Spend the Day at Peanut Island

Peanut Island is like being in the Bahamas for the day. Try spending the day surrounded by palm trees, crystal blue waters and sandy beaches. Peanut Island is an 86 acre tropical island on the Intracoastal Waterway. This park is a favorite destination for anyone that loves the ocean. Whether you want layout and catch some sun or go fishing off the fishing pier, there is something for everyone at Peanut Island.

There are guarded and unguarded beaches that surround the island. Don't forget your snorkeling gear because there are tropical fish everywhere for you to see. If you’re looking for an overnight experience, try camping in one of the 20 reserved camping sites. There is also primitive camping on the west side of the island. No visit to Peanut Island is complete without taking a casual stroll on the paved walkway, which winds’ around the perimeter of the island.

The park features shaded picnic areas around most of the island. These areas are the perfect place to escape the sun to enjoy a relaxing meal. The picnic areas feature a number of picnic pavilions with tables and grills. All pavilions, picnic tables and grills are available on first come first serve basis starting at sunrise. Restrooms are also available on the east & west side.

Canoe the Loxahatchee River

Canoe Outfitters - Paddle down Florida's Loxahatchee River on one of the Canoe Outfitters guided tours. As you broaden your canoeing skills, you'll also broaden your natural horizons. The trips (both guided and unguided) is approx. 6 hrs long. Using your own canoe or renting one, you’ll canoe the scenic Loxahatchee River from Jupiter to Jonathan Dickinson State Park. They have life jackets for all sizes and all boats have the necessary safety equipment, as required by the US Coast Guard.

Rent a Kayak

Blue Water Power Boats - Rent a kayak at two different locations. The first one is at Riviera Beach Marina which is located just across the waterway from Peanut Island. This is a perfect place to enjoy the day fishing or snorkeling around the island. The second location is behind the Hilton Hotel on Singer Island. Cruise around the Atlantic Ocean and snorkel the shallow reefs. Both locations rent waverunners, banana boat rides, snorkeling equipment and fishing gear. MacArthur Beach State Park - John D. MacArthur is a great way to spend the day with the whole family. Park visitors can participate in a variety of recreational activities, including kayaking, fishing, bird watching and snorkeling. The park is located on A1A on Singer Island in Northern Palm Beach County, 10900 State Rd. 703 in North Palm Beach. There’s an entrance fee of $4.00 per vehicle.

Adventure Times Kayaks - If you want an exciting adventure, try renting a kayak for the day. Launch your kayak from the Riviera Beach Marina for a Peanut Island tour or strap a kayak to your vehicle and set off on your own destination. Kayaks are available for half, full and multi-day rentals. Adventure Times Kayaks offers tours to Peanut Island and the old Kennedy Bomb Shelter, made for President Kennedy during the Cuban Missile Crisis. You’ll also see the former Coast Guard Station on Peanut Island. If you don’t want to take a tour, go on your own, they can tell you about some exciting places you can take your kayak on your own.

Jonathan Dickinson State Park - The park includes a variety of natural communities, such as sand pine scrub, pine flatwoods, mangroves, and river swamps. The Loxahatchee River, which was named a National Wild and Scenic River in 1985 (the first in Florida), runs through the park.

The park has such amenities as bicycling, boat tours, boating, cabins, canoeing, fishing, hiking, horse trails, kayaking, picnicking areas, swimming, wildlife viewing and full camping facilities. It also has a visitor center, a museum with interpretive exhibits and concessions. The park operates a 44-passenger boat for tours of Trapper Nelson's homestead. Jupiter Beach Park -Jupiter Inlet Beach is a 1,700 ft. guarded beach with restrooms, showers, volleyball area, picnic pavilions with grills and a playground area. There is a nice seawall for fishing in the inlet. Free Parking. Located at 1375 Jupiter Beach Rd., Jupiter (561) 966-6600.

Carlin Park and Beach - Carlin Park offers 3,000 ft of guarded beach. It is home to the Loggerhead Cafe if you decide you would like a bite to eat. Juno Beach Park
- Juno offers 300 ft. of guarded beach. This beach has a 990 ft. long fishing pier. There is a bait shop and snack bar on the pier. You will also find picnic pavilions, showers, and restrooms. Loggerhead Park & Beach - Loggerhead Beach offers 900 ft of guarded beach. It has a playground, nature trail, picnic pavilions, volleyball area, horseshoe area, restrooms, showers, and free parking. The Marine Life Center is also at this location on the west side of the park.

Central County Beaches
Ocean Reef Park This park has 700 ft. of guarded beach. It has a playground, picnic areas with grills, restrooms, showers, and free parking.

Riviera Beach Public Beach, Singer Island
This beach is surrounded by beautiful sand dunes. There is an Ocean Mall with a few tourist shops and places to eat. The public beach is approx. 400 ft of guarded beach. There are also volleyball nets and free parking on the west side of the Ocean Mall. You can rent surfboards and boogie boards at Island Water Sports Store at the Ocean Mall. Cabanas, umbrellas and chairs are available to rent at the local concession.

Palm Beach Public Beach This beach has approx. 700 ft. of guarded beach. It is adjacent to the famous shopping area, Worth Ave. There are showers at this beach. Metered parking, so bring your coins. There are public bathrooms at this beach, so you have to be creative. No pets.

South County Beaches
Boynton Beach Municipal Park This beach offers barbeque and picnic areas, a snack bar, restrooms and a beautiful boardwalk. Parking is $10 during the season and $5 during the off season.

South Beach Park South Beach Park

South Inlet Park South Inlet Park has 600 ft. of guarded beach front and Intracoastal water front. It also has a nature area and play area for the kids.
